The HUNG-arian hitches up!

SEAL BEACH – No Rose Bowl security guards were needed! And Elvis even showed up!

It’s all about “Amore for Gabor-e!”

Gabor Fabian, the Long Rider pledge class legend, married the lovely former Miss Lilia Leon, on Aug. 16. The two live in Redondo Beach. Gabor is an accountant supervisor at Macerich in Santa Monica, and Lilia teaches the young children of her school to get up in time for Dolphins and Bruin football by 8:00 a.m. to catch those East Coast kickoffs!

The honeymoon will be at The Sharks Cove Sports Bar in Hermosa-on-the-Strand.

Gabor and Lilia were married at American Martyrs Church in Manhattan-by-the-Sea, with Fr. John Barry presiding. Fr. Barry prepped at Holy Family Church in South Pasadena in the 1980s, where he “supervised” a young Tim O’Hara as an altar boy at those early 7:00 a.m. masses. Gabor was fully clothed in a fancy tux, be it noted!

The reception began with an Elvis impersonator, looking like Bill Kealey with sideburns, crooning some tune, followed by a medley of Howard Jones tunes from the DJ, Queen-fearing Brit. Naturally, the Upsilon bro’s could be found hogging drinks at the bar.

A wide spectrums of eras were represented. Omar Vallejo and Dave Canty represented the younger generation. Dave just got a gig as a public defender in Palm Desert – he asks you to please come visit! He expect many meth lab explosion defenses. Bruce MacDonald (with socks) survived a 4:00 a.m. last call the previous night to duck into the church just in time. However, the Good clan showed up as Lilia waltzed down the aisle – Scott, Chris and Eric and the parents. Chris is slowly returning to “playing shape” after bulking up during his first years of groomhood.

The best man, John Clark, was the only toastmaster who avoided crying. Sad to say, he has turned in his motorcycle and leather chaps for a Hyundai.

Melissa Romero, Gabor’s former roommate and sister of Upsilon uberbrother Dan Romero, fresh from a world concert tour that took her to Italia, graced the crowd with a rendition of “Ave Maria” at the church, before busting into “Like a Virgin” at the reception. Melissa was especially happy during the lyrics that mentioned “Mater Dei” (our Mother of God), and also the name of her high school alma mater.

At Mass, former sage Jeff Brown, Bruce’s roommate in Hermosa Beach, delivered a clutch, primetime Prayers of the Faithful.

Sean Topp, displaying his Los Al pipes, attended with his new fiancée, the lovely Miss April Phillips. Also attending were Rich Heinrich, Todd Jefferson, Brian Goldman, Abel Somilleda, Derrick Hindery and Jay Ross.

SAN FRANCISCO – Jason “Where the White Women At” Won and Steve “Where the Asian Women At” Clarence had a recent celebrity sighting in San Francisco.

The two Upsilon brothers from the early 1990s were bar-hopping (what a surprise) in the City by the Bay in August and ran into no less than “The Spiderman” – former Lakers and Pistons great John Salley.

Salley, now a host on the “Best Damn Sports Show,” was hanging out at a bar and went outside to puff on a cigar. Jason led Steve outside to go meet the Spiderman. The three began talking and Jason asked about why Tom Arnold was a chump and what was up with all of Michael Irvin’s pimp suits. The three bonded but soon a hot blondie came out to hang on the Spiderman’s tentacles.

However, the Spiderman was gracious with his new friends and introduced to them the young lassie with, “These are my friends, Jason and Steve. We go way back.” It’s only 45 minutes, but in the rock-star world these three friends now occupy, that’s a lifetime!

Jason works at Stanford and spends most of his time downloading info on his World Champion Spurs from ESPN.com. He recently moved to San Francisco and ran into Jay Ross at the Last Day Saloon in the city. The two downed Pabst Blue Ribbons at $3.00 a bottle while watching the Police cover band “Stung” and the U2 cover band “Zoo Station.”

Jay and Jason also are planning a tour of Germany for the 2006 World Cup. The “Patton Express, Part II” will storm the beaches of Normandy and cross the Rhine once again to lead America to victory and another V-E Day in the Summer of 2006. We’ll meet the Rooskies at the Elbe, chug some steins of doppelbock while leading the uprising from the Hofbrau Haus in Munchen!

The “Big Red One” — in memory of “Ol’ Blood and Guts” himself! — will ride again on the heels and feet of the 14-year-old phenom “Fast” Freddy Adu (3 goals v. South Korea’s U-17!) and former Bruins goalie and current Premier League phenom Brad Friedel!
