In Memoriam

Brother Howe

I sadly report that Upsilon has lost one of its most dedicated brothers, Robert Howe. Please remember him and his family in your prayers.

Below is an obituary:

Robert Howe, one of the most dedicated Upsilon brothers, joined the Adytum on Sept. 9, 2006.

Howe, a native of Los Angeles, was born on Dec. 6, 1929 and died with his family at his side.

Last February (2006), Howe attended his 50th Founders Day in 51 years, counting back to his graduation from UCLA in 1955.

Howe had asked that any donations be made to the Sigma Pi Education Foundation. Joe Marsalek, the long-time chapter advisor, reports that $650 in donations were received for scholarships for Upsilon brothers.

Prior to UCLA, Howe lettered in track and field and gymnastics at Dorsey High School. He served in the Korean War and graduated from UCLA in Business.

He also was a member of Rotary International and American Society of Heating and Venting Engineers, and he was a chief umpire for Northridge Little League.

He loved skiing, surfing, sailing, dirt bikes and crossword puzzles.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years Willow, sons Gregg of Laguna Beach and Rob of Santa Cruz, daughters Willow McCutcheon of Fair Oaks Ranch and Alison Allen of Hermosa Beach, and grandchildren Daniel, Pauline, and Kalyca.
