    Paul Dinh rides on 9/11 Remembrance Day

    Under the gallantly streaming broad stripes and bright stars, Paul Dinh was one of 96 riders who rode 118 miles on Sept. 9 to pay tribute to all the victims who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. During this epic ride VeloViet riders took turns protecting and assisting the flag bearer to ensure its safe passage throughout the entire ride.

    Paul is in the blue helmet in the 3rd row behind the flag.

    Robert Moore works in Rome for the U.N. Food Program, helping to prevent malnutrition and fight famines throughout the world. He recently traveled to Kenya on a safari, and has take trips to Laos and Turkey.

    Keith Griffin adjudicates consumer protections

    Brother Griffin works as a trial attorney for Girardi Keese law firm in Los Angeles on medical lawsuits. A recent mass action case resulted in a settlement of claims against a large multi-national pharmaceutical company whose drug contributed to 200,000 heart attacks in patients as a side effect.

    Nhien Le lives in San Francisco where he loves the Giants and is active in running races for charities. He is grooming his 15-yr-old niece for UCLA sorority life and Upsilon Little Sister Initiation.

    Sean Bloch completes 2nd AIDS ride!

    Sean Bloch rode from San Francisco to Los Angeles in the AIDS bicycle ride for the second consecutive year. He also trained a group of 10 riders for 6 months, to prepare them for the grueling race. This year was much easier than the first year, and he’s getting ready for his third race next year. Please donate to his cause next year. He’s willing to ride 500 miles on a bike to help AIDS research.

    Congratulations to Class of 2012!

    Upsilon seniors were hosted at the Senior Dinner on May 30 in Westwood. Actives were encouraged to live according to our Creed and John Wooden’s Pyramid of Success. Graduates include Past Sage Spencer Van Ruiten, Pledge Father Jonathan Caine, Herald Sam Caine, Past Social Chair Brian Warren, Past 1st Councilor Mark Stamper.

    Alumni hosts were David Finkel, Pablo Rivas, Josh Levy, Sam Cortina and Jay Ross, with donations from Russell Schaadt and Brian Letourneau.

    Manager Dan Romero led the brave Upsilon Bruins at the Sigma Pi World Series on May 4. Upsilon fell to the steroid-fueled Fullerton and Long Beach teams, but would have beat them in Thumper. Team included many of the all-stars of the 2000s: Abel Somilleda, Sebastian Perkinson, Drew Mercado, Tony Lopez, Chris Davis, Marc Goldsmith, Andrew Fischer, Scott Scheffler, Omar Vallejo and Kevin Rodriguez.
