Retired fighter jet pilot Col. Louis Ravetti lives in Colorado after a career of combat and reconnaissance missions during the Berlin confrontration with the USSR in 1961 and the Vietnam War. He also was Chief of Financial Management and Comptroller for the Air Defense Command, and part of the program office that design and produced the B-1 Bomber.

Brother Fong speaks at Career Night (2018)
Evan Fong, an E.C. officer during the 1975 Re-Chartering, spoke of his career in movie promotion and publicity at NBC Universal on May 21.
Fong returned to the fraternity house for the first time 40 years, and told of his travels to Abu Dhabi, event planning in Hollywood, and explained how organizing events at the fraternity stimulate the creativity needed in entertainment marketing.

Upsilon makes semi-finals at SigPi World Series
Pitcher Dan McKenzie led Upsilon to the semifinals of the 40th Sigma Pi World Series in West Covina, beating the Fullerton actives and Long Beach actives, before falling to the defending champion Long Beach alumni (under investigation for steroid use).
Brothers K-Rod, Dave Canty, Matt Sambol, Art “Pudge” Martinez, Mike McKenzie, Rex Roberts, and Abel “el Zorro” Somilleda roared for 30 runs in 3 games.
Dan McK. pitched all 3 games and finished with a 2-1 record and 2.94 ERA.
Presentation of Garni Arakelian Award to Andrew Ghaly
Garni’s sisters Astineh Arakelian (with newborn son Liam Garni Britten, named after her brother and our Sigma Pi brother) and Louisineh Arakelian and his fraternity brother Rojen Gharagedaghi presented the Garni Award to Andrew Ghaly at the 95th Founders Day on Feb. 10, 2018.

Memorial for Adrian Edwards (Y1991)
35 brothers from Boston to Seattle celebrated the life of Brother Edwards on Feb. 9 at the University Catholic Center, which featured beautiful music and a Nigerian drummer, Francois Awe, who is a professor of musicology at UCLA.
Alfred Hernandez eulogized Adrian as a compassionate friend and brother, full of zest for life and always lending a laugh to tough situations, and Arturo Martinez hosted a wonderful Argentinian reception in Culver City.
Thank you for the 30 brothers who donated to the Memorial Fund, and a scholarship will be established in honor of our friend and brother-for-all-time Adrian.
Adytum on High: Alex Smith (Y2014)
Brother Smith passed to the Adytum on High this past year in his home country of England. He was an international exchange student in 2014, and quickly gained many friends among the brothers. He already graduated with a Masters degree, but took time to travel the world and host his friends in England (photo is Ishan Rampuria, Alex Smith, Alex Stone).

Brother Helmick wins show horse competitions
Past Sage Mark Helmick lives on his ranch in Colorado where he breeds Arabians. He and his wife have won national competitions in the Western Pleasure and Hunter Pleasure categories. Photo is of Garth the horse at the Canadian Nationals in Winnipeg in 2013.

Brother Willis is Fire EMT in Hermosa
Austin Willis has a new job in Hermosa Beach, manning an ambulance and saving lives – truly living the Creed in service of God and man.

Alfred Hernandez weds in Houston
Brother Hernandez married the delightful former Miss Estella Sanchez on Dec. 8, with Upsilon brother Richard Marcus performing the ceremony and provided the blessing on their new life together. Andrew Dearborn (San Francisco), Alan Dearborn (Andrew’s brother from Cal Sigma Pi), Dave Riley Esq. (Seattle), Jason Gray (Los Angeles) and Jay Ross roadtripped for the fun weekend.

Adytum on High: Adrian Edwards (Y1992)
Brother Edwards passed to the Adytum on High in November in Houston at age 48. Adrian was beloved by brothers of the late 1980s and early 1990s for his positive attitude and infectious laughter. He was never angry, and always found the humor in every situation. He added tons of cheer to the house, and throughout his entire life. We can truly say that we miss him much already.
