Brother Rogers, who played center for the Bruins basketball teams in the 1950s, passed to the Adytum on High in Sept. 2019. He later taught and coached at Troy H.S. in Fullerton.
Rogers was the Bruins’ top scorer, rebounder and free-throw shooter as a senior in 1958, and he played alongside stars Willie Naulls and Rafer Johnson during his years. The Bruins were starting to emerge in the late 1950s, and in 1957, a good season was stopped in the NCAA playoffs by Univ. of San Francisco with Bill Russell and K.C. Jones and faced a tough rival in Cal under Pete Newell.
